Introduction

Mission Middle School, home of the Wildcats!

At Mission Middle School, we have embraced the California Common Core State Standards in reading/language arts and math, the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards, the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and the California English Language Arts (ELA)/English Language Development (ELD), Math, Science and History/Social Science Frameworks. We are focused on aligning our instruction to these new standards and frameworks, and are implementing Project-Based Learning in all classrooms. We have also upgraded our access to technology tools in all of our content and elective courses. To assure our students will be college and career ready, we are developing the 21st Century Skills of Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Problem Solving, Communication, Creativity, and Innovation through Project-Based Learning and engaging student-centered activities. In addition to our focus on academic achievement and the development of 21st Century Skills, we have an equally intense focus on responding to the social and emotional needs of our middle school students. Through our Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and our Comprehensive Student Assistance Team (CSAT), we are able to meet the needs of each and every student. As part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), we launched Mission Wildcat PRIDE (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Effort) to inspire and motivate our students to succeed every day. At Mission, we are very proud of the accomplishments of our students. These accomplishments are a credit to the entire Mission community of parents, students, teachers, staff and the surrounding neighborhood all working together to assure student success.
